Cain ,Balaam and Korah

Jud 1:11 ASV - Woe unto them! For they went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.

Abraham and his family (Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob) were promised the land flowing with milk and honey. "These all died in faith, not having received the promises." They did not personally possess the promised land. Yet, they lived with a sense of guaranty that God would fulfill His promises: "but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them." They fully accepted the certainty that the Lord would some day give that land to their seed. Meanwhile, they confessed that they were content to live as strangers concerning this world and as pilgrims anticipating the world to come: "and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth."

Now, the pilgrimage aspect of Abraham's testimony (and his family's) is emphasized. "For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland." As the years passed and the promised land was not given to them, their hearts yearned for a true, lasting, eternal homeland. "For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland." God wants to develop this perspective of heavenly pilgrimage in our hearts as well. "Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul" (1 Peter 2:11). The Lord wants us to set our daily course toward heaven, rejecting earthly cravings that diminish spiritual vitality. Bob Hoekstra

Exd 20:19 ASV - And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
Exd 20:20 ASV - And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.
Exd 20:24 ASV - An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in every place where I record my name I will come unto thee and I will bless thee.
Exd 20:25 ASV - And if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it. Isaiah 28-16 the stone is Christ, uncut not conformed unto man so he was rejected, builders rejected this tried and precious stone. Unless you build upon the rock the house will not stand.

Exd 20:26 ASV - Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not uncovered thereon. You think God is saying here that there is only one way, his way, Christ is the door and no man can come to God except through Christ . The steps here is mans ideal of how to reach God, could this be the traditions of man making void the word of God. An altar of earth God said of uncut stone and Christ is the chief corner stone, Man cuts the stone to fit their doctrines and then they call it Gods steps to righteousness. 2Cr 5:1 ASV - For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.
2Cr 5:2 ASV - For verily in this we groan, longing to be clothed upon with our habitation which is from heaven:
2Cr 5:3 ASV - if so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

Steps in Heb=

We are the righteousness of God in Christ, Man in their on minds have worked out their own plan of who God is and what wants. Aside from scripture and the whole word they go contrary even from the beginning of time. Cain offered a gift unto God but God rejected his gift. Why did God reject his offering,it was not the gift itself it was the way it was brought to God. God was seeing Cains heart as he brought this gift and it proves out as we read on. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. It says unto Cain and his offering ,the name Cain in the Heb= Possession. Unless God build the house it will not stand. Cain represents a lot of men today, the spirit of Cain is alive today. Men have no respect for the true word of God and their hearts are far from the Lord it says in Amos they worship me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. From the beginning of time ,from Cain to today. Men bring their fruit and their fruit is whats in their heart we know that we are saved by Grace and that is a gift from God a gift of Faith ,their is absolutely nothing we can do in our flesh to be saved. So what ever Gift we give to God it has to be generated by his gift of faith. And his (Cains) countenance fell, countenance in the Heb= is FACE or the Face of God ,so it is apparent he is being ruled by his flesh and it is from his heart outward, 2Cr 10:3 ASV - For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh
2Cr 10:4 ASV - (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds),
2Cr 10:5 ASV - casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; It says casting down strongholds , what was the stronghold in Cains life resentment, hatred, bitterness Gal 5:17 ASV - For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would. Rom 2:27 ASV - and shall not the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who with the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?
Rom 2:29 ASV - but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Rom 7:6 ASV - But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that wherein we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.
2Cr 3:6 ASV - who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. The word says that we pass from the old into the new the old testament was a type and a shadow of better things to come, The old was the letter of the law and the new is the new life God gives to every man that believes, the first Adam and than the second Adam. From death unto life. So back to the strongholds in Cains life, what he did was not a spur of the moment thing this was a festering sore in Cains heart that would not heal. But God told him there is a way a remedy for your heart , If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up. It was his heart and the only medicine that would cure his heart REPENTANCE, God said if you do well it shall be lifted ,if not sin is standing ready to consume you, first comes lust than sin than death. 2Cr 10:5 ASV - casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and the knowledge we have is his word everything that is contrary to Gods word is sin. Cain was wroth or the Heb is ,to be hot, furious, burn, become angry, be kindled. Where do you think the saying comes from , That just burns me up!!! .So we see that Cain let this fire of bitterness seethe in him to the point that it became his desire and his master and he murdered his brother in a fit of rage. Cain thought that he could offer some kind of gift other than his heart and he failed,so it is as some men to day they not only are strangers to the word of God but they don't know who God is. The word was made flesh and dwell among us Jesus said you see me you see the father. He is the very image of God himself Jhn 10:25 ASV - Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father's name, these bear witness of me. And what is the witness of Christ, its that God was in Christ 2Cr 5:19 ASV - to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Luk 8:15 ASV - And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Mat 3:8 ASV - Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance:
Jhn 10:38 ASV - But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father. Rom 9:16 ASV - So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy. The gift we give is a gift of surrender we give back to God his son Christ in you the hope of glory. There is only one fruit that is acceptable unto God the fruit of his spirit and the fruit of Gods spirit is the very nature of Christ himself. 2Cr 3:3 ASV - being made manifest that ye are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in tables [that are] hearts of flesh.

Gen 4:3 ASV - And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto Jehovah.
Gen 4:4 ASV - And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And Jehovah had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
Gen 4:5 ASV - but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
Gen 4:6 ASV - And Jehovah said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Gen 4:7 ASV - If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it.
So we know Cain represents all man kind that is not not ruled by the Spirit of God. His name Cain means Possession, verse three says in the process of time it came to pass. Luk 8:15 ASV - And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Mat 3:8 ASV - Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance: Hbr 12:14 ASV - Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord:
Hbr 12:15 ASV - looking carefully lest [there be] any man that falleth short of the grace of God; Speaking of Esau and Cain for he found no place for a change of mind
Hbr 12:16 ASV - lest [there be] any fornication, or profane person, as Esau, who for one mess of meat sold his own birthright.
Hbr 12:17 ASV - For ye know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for a change of mind [in his father,] though he sought is diligently with tears. How many people do you know today are having great problems with serving God and cant find that peace of heart they seek for, they are up one day and down the next. Its one obstacle after another, the bible says make his paths straight ,first came John than comes Jesus John brought in repentance Acts 2:38 The men listening to Peter were pricked in their hearts and said what must we do to be SAVED. Well peter told them and you and me and every one else that reads this word and believes. It says of Esau verse 17 for he found no place for a change of mind ,he could not forgive he would not forgive. So it is in this life today so many people are bound up in their life's they want all of God but they want to serve God their way, they just cant forgive Hbr 12:15 ASV - looking carefully lest [there be] any man that falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you], and thereby the many be defiled; Hbr 12:13 ASV - and make straight paths for your feet, that that which is lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed. It is saying here that there is a healing for you and me that if we repent and turn our hearts to God he will heal us and restore us ,what ever has crippled us, makes us of no effect will be taken away and he will bring healing to us. Gal 5:1 ASV - For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage

Mat 5:23 NLT - "So if you are standing before the altar in the Temple, offering a sacrifice to God, and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, or you have something against them.
Mat 5:24 NLT - leave your sacrifice there beside the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. You see this is what God was saying to Cain and to Esau
Mat 5:25 NLT - Come to terms quickly with your enemy before it is too late and you are dragged into court, handed over to an officer, and thrown in jail. Mat 5:26 NLT - I assure you that you won't be free again until you have paid the last penny. With out repenatence a change of heart we put ourselfs in a spitiural prison we lock ourselfs up, Bitterness will destroy us. What does the word say about this 1Cr 13:13 ASV - But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love. Rom 13:10 ASV - Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: love therefore is the fulfilment of the law.

Pro 14:12 ASV - There is a way which seemeth right unto a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death.
Mat 5:26 NLT - I assure you that you won't be free again until you have paid the last penny. Love is the fulfilling of every law

God bless you all
