Heb 4-12 Sharper Than Any Two-Edged Sword

Isa 60:9 ASV - Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of Jehovah thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

Pro 19:12 ASV - The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; But his favor is as dew upon the grass.

Jam 1:25 ASV - But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.
Gal 5:1 ASV - For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage.

When a man is thrown into a dungeon a place where there is no way out,   alone and with out any view. No one is there to listen and plead their case to. Oh but wait there is a person there,  some one that can hear and deliver.  Do we plead our case before man and hoping for relief. Only God can put us there and only God can deliver us from our trial.

Hbr 12:11 ASV - All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness.
Heb 12:8 The trial seems to be beyond anything we have ever experienced in our life, and yes at that moment our thinking seems somewhat beyond sanity Heb 12:11.  Listen God has decided this trial is necessary it  is his doing and repentance and a broken heart is the key for deliverance.     2Cr 12:7 ASV - And by reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I should not be exalted overmuch.

First of all we are not Paul but we are people of flesh and all man kind must fall at the cross and be saved. Putting our self's on our altar, our own cross to be burned as a living sacrifice.  Spiritually we die every day to our carnal man and the burning is to die to our self's and walk after the spirit. We put to death the deeds of the flesh.  Dan 3:25 ASV - He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of the gods.  The word loose Heb/ to loosen, abide, begin .  The wonderful thing here to see is the only thing that burned up in the fire was There Bondage! the ropes that bound them was a type of there being bound to the world through their flesh . And Jesus was there to keep them.
Luk 3:16 ASV - John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:
The Holy Spirit is the beginning of a new life a wonderful new life with Christ, you become born again and start walking with Jesus. And the fire is the burning away of the carnal nature you were born with and in the end you become a son of God.
Jhn 1:12 ASV - But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:  Born of his Image and of his nature ,the fruit of the spirit is the nature of Christ.
Jhn 1:13 ASV - who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
We were born of the first Adam unto sin , but Jesus canceled that by his sacrifice on the cross and he became the second Adam and gave us newness of life by his spirit. He conquered death and took the keys of hell and death that bound us to this world and set us free .

We have been baptized with the Holy Ghost and with FIRE. The fire is our walk after we believed salvation than becomes an every day walk. It  is the heart of a man that must be purged  , Gold tried by fire is to bring us into the perfection of Christ Jesus. The verse above is beautiful in that God is reconciling us to himself. I want to take a few words out of the above verse and look at them in the Greek.

Greek: skolops

Thorn, Thorns (Of):
originally denoted "anything pointed," e.g., "a stake;" in Hellenistic vernacular, "a thorn" (so the Sept., in Num 33:55; Eze 28:24; Hsa 2:6), 2Cr 12:7, of the Apostle's "thorn in the flesh;" his language indicates that it was physical, painful, humiliating; it was also the effect of Divinely permitted Satanic antagonism; the verbs rendered "that I should (not) be exalted overmuch" (RV) and "to buffet" are in the present tense, signifying recurrent action, indicating a constantly repeated attack. Lightfoot interprets it as "a stake driven through the flesh," and Ramsay agrees with this. Most commentators adhere to the rendering "thorn." Field says "there is no doubt that the Alexandrine use of skolops for thorn is here intended, and that the ordinary meaning of 'stake' must be rejected." What is stressed is not the metaphorical size, but the acuteness of the suffering and its effects. Attempts to connect this with the circumstances of Act 14:19 and Gal 4:13 are speculative.

A messenger of Satan to buffet me,  a messenger, envoy, one who is sent, an angel, a messenger from God. God is in control of every situation even yours, because he first loved you. Remember the trials and chastening is to bring about the peaceable fruit of Righteousness .

To buffet me,
Greek: kolaphizo  Buffet:
signifies "to strike with clenched hands, to buffet with the fist" (kolaphos, "a fist"), Mat 26:67; Mar 14:65; 1Cr 4:11; 2Cr 12:7; 1Pe 2:20.

That I should not be exalted overmuch.
Greek: huperairo

Exalt, Exalted:
"to raise over" (huper, "above," and airo, see No. 3), is used in the Middle Voice, of "exalting" oneself exceedingly, 2Cr 12:7; 2Th 2:4.

The father knows the power of the flesh in all man kind , he is a respecter of no one person . He sees the beginning from the end . Thank you Lord you first love me.
The word says that a man is but grass and the flower of grass.
Isa 40:8 ASV - The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever.
Mat 6:30 ASV - But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Rev 9:4 ASV - And it was said unto them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only such men as have not the seal of God on their foreheads.

The word grass here Greek: huperlian,   Chief, Chiefest, Chiefly:
"chiefest" (huper, "over," lian, "exceedingly, pre-eminently, very much"), is used in 2Cr 11:5; 12:11, of Paul's place among the Apostles.
Psa 34:18 ASV - Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

What is the reason to hold on to your flesh to save your self in this world , Pride goes before destruction.

Mar 8:36 ASV - For what doth it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?
Pro 16:18 ASV - Pride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

This was Eve's demise she was lead into sin by her pride. It says she saw the sin (fruit )
Gen 3:6 ASV - And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat. From the beginning of time to the end of all things    Romans 12 :1-2  this is the remedy. Do you see what the thorn in Paul's FLESH was! it was his cross to bear. The thorn is to purge us as Gold and to purify us and bring about righteousness and sanctification.  The only altar we have is the cross of Christ and the power of that cross will save us.

Hbr 13:10 ASV - We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat that serve the tabernacle.   Eat  metaph. to devour, consume. Jesus said unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood.
Jhn 6:51 ASV - I am the living bread which came down out of heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: yea and the bread which I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world.
Hbr 13:11 ASV - For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned without the camp.
Hbr 13:12 ASV - Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Hbr 13:13 ASV - Let us therefore go forth unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.   Go out of the gates of this life and and the lust of the world its trappings of mans soul , bearing his reproach . Pick up you cross and follow me. Unless a man come to this table and eat he has no right to the Kingdom of God.
Hbr 13:14 ASV - For we have not here an abiding city, but we seek after the city which is to come.
Brothers and sisters this word is for you , how can it be understood any other way.  This book called the bible is a book like any other book as to the fact it has paper and ink.  But unlike all other books if it is applied spiritually and received with the heart it becomes life to the reader.
Hbr 4:12 ASV - For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.

It is Gods word to you, it is living and active to the hearer and the doer.  This word will cut your flesh your carnal nature sharper than any other sword. See what it says about you   piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit . God is not interested in your flesh,  its you soul he is saving. The word says that God breathed into the nostrils of Adam and he became a living SOUL. The flesh of man is appointed to die. But the Soul of man will live for ever the soul will never die. My question to you is where will your soul live in the end of all things when God comes for his elect. If the righteous live with God forever more where will the unrighteous soul live. Today is the day to repent and fall at the cross of Jesus and be that broken and contrite heart . With out repentance no man shall see God,turn and walk towards the cross.
