The Sin Of Achan

Jos 7:19 ASV - And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to Jehovah, the God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.     Achan = "troubler"

Jos 6:17 ASV - And the city shall be devoted, even it and all that is therein, to Jehovah: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
Jos 6:18 ASV - But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when ye have devoted it, ye take of the devoted thing; so would ye make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.
Jos 6:19 ASV - But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy unto Jehovah: they shall come into the treasury of Jehovah.

Wonderful story of our walk with the Lord in this day and time , the story of Jericho is a story of surrender and by faith receiving the completeness of Gods salvation for you.
 As you see the Heb meaning for  Jericho = "its moon"
1Co 15:41 ASV - There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.   There is a great type and shadow in this word. Star glory is the beginning of our walk being born again in our spirit .  And taking on the grace of Gods word in us ( ye are the light of the world a city on a hill ).   We receive star glory   And than as we walk in our faith and believe in our hearts that God is able to take us and cause us to become a son of God .  We walk towards that moon glory , The truth of this moon to us is that the moon itself is a dead planet , it has no glory of its own it only reflects the glory of the (son ) sun .  Isaiah 61 is an on going truth for us all every day , when we look in the mirror we began to see Jesus not our self's any longer we are being set free daily by feeding upon this bread of life.

Act 26:13 ASV - at midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them that journeyed with me.
Act 26:18 ASV - to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.
It says here the glory of Jesus is even brighter than the sun.  

My story is about Joshua and the children and crossing over Jordan , going through the water of separation .  Being baptized in the spiritual water of separation . And the first thing in their life was to conquer Jericho!  their flesh .  Jericho represents our flesh all through their walk they had to conquer the land of their flesh .  Salvation is an on going walk and we never stop going forward we walk in his grace the power to overcome is in his grace the gift of salvation . And the grace brings Faith the power to believe no matter what ,  so they went over the river Jordan .  Now at the time they crossed over the river it was at its highest from spring rains and it was running very fast .
Jos 3:16 ASV - that the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap, a great way off, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those that went down toward the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.  God told Joshua that the moment the priest toe touch the water they would cross over .
And on dry ground God is marvelous our ever faithful provider   
 Heb 12:14 ASV - Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord:   To sanctify ourselves is to separate from this world and follow Gods word.     Eph 4:11 ASV - And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 ASV - for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:
The priest that carried the Ark of the covenant at the Jordan are the same men and servants of God today called of God to minister his word of truth . No matter where you live there are messengers of God holding the Ark and showing the way to cross over your Jordan .  The verse above says that the water of the Jordan went all the way to a city called Adam .  God has made a way for us to enter in to his rest and his promises .

Eph 5:26 ASV - that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
Eph 5:27 ASV - that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Romans 12:1-2  States that this word has the power to renew your mind the ability to transform us into the image of Christ . The first verse says we must first get on our cross become a living sacrifice unto God .
Rom 12:1 ASV - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
Rom 12:2 ASV - And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
If we desire to know the will of God in our life's we must be transformed by the word of God washed by the cleansing effect of his word which is the blood of Christ . Jesus is the word made flesh and as we obey the fathers word through him we be come the word made flesh in us also.

Jhn 1:12 ASV - But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:  Believing on his name is manifesting the power and the character the very nature of Jesus in you. Its not just saying the name its manifesting the power of his name in you . Jesus said he gave you power over all the power of the enemy and NOTHING shall harm you.  Believe on his name , these signs shall follow .  The devil knows who belongs to God and he has to obey .
Jhn 1:13 ASV - who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  Born of God !         Here is where we start our journey with the father . We go down into the water of separation and come up as a new creature in Christ . The old man our carnal nature is in that watery grave never to rise again . Romans 6 tells us this. By that gift of faith God gives us we become born again .  If we died with him we shall also be resurrected with him.
Jhn 1:14 ASV - And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

Seeing our old man our carnal nature is that land to be conquered,  Jericho a city with great walls   We take the land of our flesh and stand on the power of his word .  Jericho was a well fortified city strong and an enemy to be reckoned  with .  But everything the children did to conquer this city was to obey Gods commands.  God went before them the battle was the Lords . 

Jos 6:2 ASV - And Jehovah said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.
Jos 6:3 ASV - And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
Jos 6:4 ASV - And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
Jos 6:5 ASV - And it shall be, that, when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.
Jos 6:6 ASV - And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of Jehovah.   The Ark is a type of Christ Jesus ,  in the Ark was the golden jar of manna the true manna , remember God said this manna must be consumed every day or it would have worms if they tried to save it . But this manna was Christ and the golden Jar was the presents of God with him.  The tables commandments of Gods the Law ,  and Jesus said he came to fulfill the Law.  And the rod of Aaron which budded and grew almonds .  Heb 7:14 ASV - For it is evident that our Lord hath sprung out of Judah; as to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priests.
Heb 7:15 ASV - And what we say is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there ariseth another priest,
Heb 7:16 ASV - who hath been made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life:
Heb 7:17 ASV - for it is witnessed of him, Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek.
The rod of Aaron was a dead stick until God breath life back into it.        Jhn 10:18 ASV - No one taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.  So he resurrected the third day and because he resurrected to a new body a glorified body he gave us the right to eternal life with him.

  Num 17:10 ASV - And Jehovah said unto Moses, Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that thou mayest make an end of their murmurings against me, that they die not.  

The children obeyed all that was commanded by God all but one The gold and the silver
the vessels of brass and iorn. The devoted thing the precious work of your salvation there is no short cuts to Gods salvation . Jesus said he was the way the truth and the LIFE.    Jhn 14:6 ASV - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.   Luk 13:24 ASV - Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Jhn 10:9 ASV - I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.

1Th 4:16 ASV - For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;
1Jo 3:2 ASV - Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, We Shall Be Like Him; for we shall see him even as he is.

Silver is a type of the blood of Christ and the gold is a type of the presents of God.

The sin of Achan breaks my heart every time I read it  , he tried another way .  Just like people of today there is only one gospel the good news Jesus preached
Mat 7:13 ASV - Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.
Just as Adam and Eve forsaking Gods command  .  Achan saw the gold and the silver lust of the eyes the pride of life lust of the flesh.  1Jo 2:16 ASV - For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
People must understand God sees all ! there is nothing hid from him .  And this sin cause others to die also .  God told Joshua to destroy the devoted thing , before he would walk with them any longer .  

Please see this in the spirit and not the letter ,   I am speaking of types and shadows from the old to the new.  The old testament was in the flesh and we live in the spirit .  Just as the parables Jesus spoke of.   We are circumcised  in our hearts by the Law of liberty .    Rom 2:29 ASV - but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Your salvation is dependent upon your obedience to Gods word ,  Achan not only sinned against himself but his family his wife and children . And in the end the whole of the children of God .  Sin in our life stops the process of  the cross in our life .  The cross is an instrument of death for us, death to our carnal man.    Achan stop the process of Gods plan for the children by his sin .
Jos 7:22 ASV - So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.
Jos 7:23 ASV - And they took them from the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel; and they laid them down before Jehovah.
Jos 7:24 ASV - And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the mantle, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them up unto the valley of Achor. 
Jos 7:25 ASV - And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? Jehovah shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire, and stoned them with stones.
Jos 7:26 ASV - And they raised over him a great heap of stones, unto this day; and Jehovah turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day. Valley of trouble
Rom 8:13 ASV - for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Jos 6:24 ASV - And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein; only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of Jehovah.
Jos 6:25 ASV - But Rahab the harlot, and her father's household, and all that she had, did Joshua save alive; and she dwelt in the midst of Israel unto this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
Rahab in Heb means    Wide ,  her faith save her whole family and her faith was remembered all through history
Heb 11:31 ASV - By faith Rahab the harlot perished not with them that were disobedient, having received the spies with peace.
Jas 2:25 ASV - And in like manner was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?
Your faith is the only thing that will save you in the end ,  Believing God through the days ahead .
What does the gospel say to you ?    what is the gospel      Rom 1:16 ASV - For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Jesus said there was hard times coming for his people  Mat 24:9 ASV - Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:13 ASV - But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:14 ASV - And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.
Mat 24:29 ASV - But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 ASV - and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Who shall escape this great event ,  this is speaking of the last days of Gods people .  There is a cross for us now at this moment to take up. Jesus spoke of it , Jesus gave up his life, his flesh on the cross . So will every one that enters in to the new Jerusalem to the marriage feast of the lamb.
Remember the moon glory we must manifest the light of the son ,  and than as the parable of the sower of the seed says .

Mat 13:3 ASV - And he spake to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow;
Mat 13:19 ASV - When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the evil one, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side.
Mat 13:20 ASV - And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and straightway with joy receiveth it;
Mat 13:21 ASV - yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway he stumbleth.
Mat 13:22 ASV - And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Mat 13:23 ASV - And he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who verily beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

You must be filled with the power of God , his promise that Jesus spoke of .   Just as the book of Acts spoke of  the one hundred and twenty in the upper room .     Act 2:4 ASV - And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act 2:37 ASV - Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?
Act 2:38 ASV - And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Act 2:39 ASV - For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.

Act 2:4 ASV - And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Act 2:37 ASV - Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?
 Luk 24:47 ASV - and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
Luk 24:49 ASV - And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high.

Make no mistake if you have the Holy Spirit if you have been clothed with this promise you will know it , if not ask him now ! ask the Lord to fill you with his spirit . Its the only way to know him in this last days .
