Who's Image Are we
Gen 1:26 ASV - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27 ASV - And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
I believe this bears repeating once again , being created in Gods image is important for us to see and realize . Jhn 4:24 ASV - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth. First we must understand Gods image is not our bodies. So if he created you in his image what image was you created in , it is for your fathers purpose . Having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will . So Gods image is his nature his character who God is in all his glory and we can go on and on in this vain of thought of who God is. Now Jesus said he came in his fathers name , Rom 8:29 ASV - For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren:
1Co 15:49 ASV - And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
Rom 8:29 ASV - For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren:
1Co 15:49 ASV - And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Jesus was God in the flesh and when we see him we see God . Jesus came to revel the father to you , Col 2:9 ASV - for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily,
2Co 5:19 ASV - to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Jhn 5:43 ASV - I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. Jesus always looked beyond a mans flesh and saw his soul , this body is a vehicle to get our spirit from one place to another . And that is how we must see people, Paul said know no man after the flesh, 2Co 5:16 ASV - Wherefore we henceforth know no man after the flesh: even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.
Jhn 8:15 ASV - Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
Image Heb tseh'·lem
It lies in the nature of the case that the "image" does not consist in bodily form; it can only reside in spiritual qualities, in man's mental and moral attributes as a self-conscious, rational, personal agent, capable of self-determination and obedience to moral law. This gives man his position of lordship in creation, and invests his being with the sanctity of personality. The image of God, defaced, but not entirely lost through sin, is restored in yet more perfect form in the redemption of Christ
Luk 9:53 ASV - And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he were going to Jerusalem.
Luk 9:54 ASV - And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we bid fire to come down from heaven, and consume them?
Luk 9:55 ASV - But he turned, and rebuked them.
James and John were the disciples that proposed this to Jesus , thanks be unto God he is a righteous judge . But these men were looking at the flesh Jesus was looking at their souls.
And looking at this in the spirit , Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem
Rom 1:23 ASV - and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Man is determined to make God like himself , to justify their sin .
Glory Greek
of the nature and acts of God in self-manifestation, i.e., what He essentially is and does, as exhibited in whatever way he reveals Himself in these respects, and particularly in the person of Christ, in whom essentially His "glory" has ever shone forth and ever will do, Jhn 17:5, 24; Hbr 1:3; it was exhibited in the character and acts of Christ in the days of His flesh, Jhn 1:14; Jhn 2:11; at Cana both His grace and His power were manifested, and these constituted His "glory;" so also in the resurrection of Lazarus, Jhn 11:4, 40; the "glory" of God was exhibited in the resurrection of Christ, Rom 6:4, and in His ascension and exaltation, 1Pe 1:21, likewise on the Mount of Transfiguration, 2Pe 1:17. In Rom 1:23 His "everlasting power and Divinity" are spoken of as His "glory," i.e., His attributes and power as revealed through creation; in Rom 3:23 the word denotes the manifested perfection of His character, especially His righteousness, of which all men fall short; in Col 1:11 "the might of His glory" signifies the might which is characteristic of His "glory;" in Eph 1:6, 12, 14, "the praise of the glory of His grace" and "the praise of His glory" signify the due acknowledgement of the exhibition of His attributes and ways; in Eph 1:17, "the Father of glory" describes Him as the source from whom all Divine splendor and perfection proceed in their manifestation, and to whom they belong;
Corruptible Greek: phthartos
Corrupt, Verb and Adjective. Corruption, Corruptible, Incorruption, Incorruptible:
"corruptible,"
(a) of man as being mortal, liable to decay (in contrast to God), Rom 1:23;
1Pe 1:22 KJV - Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Pe 1:23 KJV - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1Pe 1:24 KJV - For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
1Pe 1:25 KJV - But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
I see we are born of the flesh of Adam , Corruptible appointed to die one day. Can you see God never intended that we live forever in this body of flesh . He has a wonderful plan for those that love him and obey this word . Jesus came to show us who the father is , he said he came in his fathers name . He told Phillip if you see me you see the father I and the father are one . Jesus said if you can not believe me , than believe the works I do they are from the father that is in me.
Jhn 10:25 ASV - Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father's name, these bear witness of me.
Jhn 14:12 ASV - Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.
Jhn 10:38 ASV - But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.
I started this with the word Image . Now Adam was made out of the dust of the earth and he received the breath of Gods life and became a living Soul . Zoe of God his life .
God instilled in Adam his image his character everything that God is . And Jesus manifested that image in his obedience to His Father . Jesus said he came to do the will of the father.
He was the exact pattern we follow , Jhn 14:12 ASV - Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.
1Jo 4:10 ASV - Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Jhn 3:17 ASV - For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him.
Jesus went to his cross and died to his flesh and he Resurrected again to newness of life and has gave us the right to die spiritually on our own cross to condemn sin in our flesh.
Rom 8:2 ASV - For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.
Rom 8:3 ASV - For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 ASV - that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:5 ASV - For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 ASV - For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:
Mat 19:28 ASV - And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Tit 3:5 ASV - not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Jesus was glorified he received a glorified body at his resurrection , thus it says about you also.
Jhn 1:12 ASV - But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Jhn 1:13 ASV - who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Here is where we lose our carnal nature and become children of light , and take on the very image of Christ himself being born of his word his very life. Following Christ in his word unto in the regeneration of his glory .
Jhn 1:16 ASV - For of his fulness we all received, and grace for grace.
Jesus was the exact image of his Father , and in him was the fullness of the father . It says God called us to become Sons he gave us Jesus as a pattern to follow. If God has called to become a son whose son are we to be like Jesus . Heb 6:1 ASV - Wherefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on unto perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2Co 7:1 ASV - Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2Co 13:9 ASV - For we rejoice, when we are weak, and ye are strong: this we also pray for, even your perfecting.
Eph 4:12 ASV - for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:
Only the word of God is true every other word speaking against the word of God is antichrist , Man says we can not be like Jesus , No man can be like Christ we will always be sinners saved by grace! The word above says different. Mat 5:48 ASV - Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Jas 1:4 ASV - And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing. Entire Greek: holokleros
Entire:
"complete, sound in every part" (holos, "whole," kleros, "a lot," i.e., with all that has fallen by lot), is used ethically in 1Th 5:23, indicating that every grace present in Christ should be manifested in the believer; so Jam 1:4
Eph 1:3 ASV - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ:
Eph 1:4 ASV - even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:
Eph 1:5 ASV - having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:17 ASV - that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;
Eph 1:18 ASV - having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 ASV - and what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might
Eph 3:9 ASV - and to make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery which for ages hath been hid in God who created all things;
Eph 3:10 ASV - to the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places might be made known through the church the manifold wisdom of God,
Eph 3:11 ASV - according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
Eph 3:12 ASV - in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.
