We Are Barabbas

Jhn 18:38 ASV - Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find no crime in him.  Pilate stood in the face of Jesus and ask what is truth he knew Jesus was innocent of their charges and he had a problem with the Jews and their religion. Yet he Compromised and took the easy road There was no other way Jesus had to die for the sins of the world , they said to him they would go to Caesar if he did not do as they ask . He was governor and a powerful politician in the Roman government so he would stand to lose a lot . Yet he feared Jesus and knew there was something holy about him.

Jhn 18:39 ASV - But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

Jhn 18:40 ASV - They cried out therefore again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.)

Jhn 8:44 ASV - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.
Barabbas = "son of a father or master"           Luk 24:44 ASV - And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.
Luk 24:27 ASV - And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.   Barabbas was our type and shadow  , he was all of man kind in flesh .    He deserved to die his decisions in his life were of the works of the flesh .  And of his fathers nature.  The captive robber whom the Jews begged Pilate to release instead of Christ . Seeing the preciousness of Gods Love he needed a perfect sacrifice one that would be the last sacrifice once and for all .
Rom 3:23 ASV - for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;  The word says that God cursed Adam his children and the ground itself because of his rebellion to his commandant.  Through his rebellion we too became Barabbas.    Gen 2:17 ASV - but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.    The tree of life was also standing in the garden      Gen 2:9 ASV - And out of the ground made Jehovah God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Gen 2:17 ASV - but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.   And now we see that every man born of Adam was also to die . The tree of life it says , if they had eaten of that tree they would have lived for ever so God had to move them out of the garden. Foolishness to believe that the knowledge of good and evil could superseded living for ever . Life everlasting and death was the choice, the word calls it beguiled  . Gen 3:3 ASV - but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:13 ASV - And Jehovah God said unto the woman, What is this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.  Beguiled in Heb  nä·shä   to lend on interest or usury, be a creditor to be decieved   .   Gen 3:4 ASV - And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  A spiritual death is the key here , Rev 2:11 ASV - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the Second Death.
.     1Co 15:26 ASV - The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.  You must be born again !
1Co 15:42 ASV - So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
1Co 15:43 ASV - it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
1Co 15:44 ASV - it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
1Co 15:45 ASV - So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.   Jhn 1:12 ASV - But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Jhn 1:13 ASV - who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Through Christ and his sacrifice we go from death unto life .
Barabbas lived on in his life and he was spared the cross .  Or was he ! if we are all like Barabbas born into sin corrupt in every way having the carnal nature of Adam our father a rebel all the way .    No the father knew what he was doing all the time      Isa 53:8 ASV - By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who among them considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due?
Isa 53:9 ASV - And they made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Isa 53:10 ASV - Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand.  Bruise  in Heb   dä·kä' to be crushed, be shattered  .
Luk 4:18 ASV - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised,  Jesus had to suffer for man kind he was the passover Lamb he took the cross of suffering for all man kind.   This word bruised    Greek: thrauo

Bruise:
"to smite through, shatter," is used in Luk 4:18, "them that are bruised," i.e., broken by calamity.
I am seeing now more than ever the power of rejection the demon that drives people into great hopelessness even to the point being shattered beyond repair . And I see where people that suffer from great rejection in their life without realizing they subject their children to that powerful spirit .   That is why rejection comes at a very early age , children rejected by their parents and family is spiritual in its divisiveness in its very nature   . God did not reject Christ he rejected the nature of the carnal man .     Rev 1:17 ASV - And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as one dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Fear not; I am the first and the last,  Rev 1:18 ASV - and the Living one; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.
1Co 15:22 ASV - For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
1Co 15:26 ASV - The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.     Jesus had to to be the first born among the dead .   This is speaking of the soul of man , the flesh will die but the soul of man lives for ever . God has come through his son to save your soul .  Luk 9:23 ASV - And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Col 1:20 ASV - and through him to reconcile all things unto himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, I say, whether things upon the earth, or things in the heavens.
What is the cross here for you and I.   where crucifixion is metaphorically used of the renunciation of the world, that characterizes the true Christian life let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily

The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.    1Th 5:23 ASV - And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Entire   Greek: holokleros

Entire:
"complete, sound in every part" (holos, "whole," kleros, "a lot," i.e., with all that has fallen by lot), is used ethically in 1Th 5:23, indicating that every grace present in Christ should be manifested in the believer; so Jam 1:4. In the Sept. the word is used, e.g., of a "full" week, Lev 23:15; of altar stones unhewn, Deu 27:6; Jos 8:31; of a "full-grown" vine tree, useless for work, Eze 15:5; of the "sound" condition of a sheep, Zec 11:16.
1Th 5:24 ASV - Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.
Jhn 3:5 ASV - Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God!     Repentance , water baptism and with true repentance the Holy Spirit  .  Just as Peter said when men were convicted of their sins
Act 2:36 ASV - Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified.
Act 2:37 ASV - Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?
Act 2:38 ASV - And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Act 2:39 ASV - For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.
Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins;   Repentance and water baptism brings Remission of your sins .    2cor 7:10
For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; but worldly grief (the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [breeding and ending in death
Regret   Greek: ametameletos
Regret:
"not repented of" (a, negative, and A), is translated "which bringeth no regret" in 2Cr 7:10, RV, said of repentance (AV, "not to be repented of"); elsewhere, in Rom 11:29.
Please understand repentance is a gift from God he brings his sorrow to save you soul.
Its Godly sorrow is Gods love to every man , that you be sorry for your sins unto repentance.

Mat 3:8 ASV - Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance:
Mat 3:11 ASV - I indeed baptize you in water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire

   Greek: metanoia   Repentance Greek: metanoia

Repent, Repentance:
"afterthought, change of mind, repentance," corresponds in meaning to A, No. 1, and is used of "repentance" from sin or evil, except in Hbr 12:17, where the word "repentance" seems to mean, not simply a change of Isaac's mind, but such a change as would reverse the effects of his own previous state of mind. Esau's birthright-bargain could not be recalled; it involved an irretrievable loss.     As regards "repentance" from sin,

Lev 14:6 ASV - As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:
Lev 14:48 ASV - And if the priest shall come in, and look, and, behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was plastered; then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.
Lev 14:49 ASV - And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:
Lev 14:50 ASV - and he shall kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water:
Lev 14:51 ASV - and he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times
Lev 14:53 ASV - but he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open field: so shall he make atonement for the house; and it shall be clean.  This bird was you and I Barabbas
This is a wonderful story of the sacrifice of Jesus for us all ,  when this talks about a house it is talking about your soul ,  and your soul was cursed by Adam , but there is a remedy.
The priest takes two birds one is you or Barabbas and the one to die is the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world .   And he shall kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water , the earthen vessel is the body of Christ Just as the water and turned to wine which is his blood .  Jesus died in his body his flesh died on Calvary . But he was resurrected to newness of life and because he lives he gives us the right to have resurrection life. The running water is living water  The word washes us daily if we believe . The washing water of the word.
Eph 5:25 ASV - Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;
Eph 5:26 ASV - that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

Jhn 18:39 ASV - But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

Luk 23:25 ASV - And he released him that for insurrection and murder had been cast into prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
Jhn 18:39 ASV - But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
Act 3:14 ASV - But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted unto you,

Rom 8:3 ASV - For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 ASV - that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:5 ASV - For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 ASV - For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:
Rom 8:7 ASV - because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be:
Rom 8:8 ASV - and they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Mat 3:13 KJV - Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
Mat 3:14 KJV - But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
Mat 3:15 KJV - And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Jhn 1:33 ASV - And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
Greek: baptizo

Greek: baptizo   Baptism :  Baptize in Greek                  Those who obeyed came "confessing their sins," thus acknowledging their unfitness to be in the Messiah's coming Kingdom. Distinct from this is the "baptism" enjoined by Christ, Mat 28:19, a "baptism" to be undergone by believers, thus witnessing to their identification with Him in death, burial and resurrection, e.g., Act 19:5; Rom 6:3, 4; 1Cr 1:13-17; 12:13; Gal 3:27; Col 2:12. The phrase in Mat 28:19, "baptizing them into the Name" (RV; cp. Act 8:16, RV), would indicate that the "baptized" person was closely bound to, or became the property of, the one into whose name he was "baptized."
