Purified By Fire
Mat 5:8 ASV - Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Pure Greek: katharos Clean, Cleanness, Cleanse, Cleansing:
"free from impure admixture, without blemish, spotless . clean, pure
1. physically
2. purified by fire
3. in a similitude, like a vine cleansed by pruning and so fitted to bear fruit .
4. Jhn 15:2 ASV - Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit.
5. Jhn 15:3 ASV - Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you.
6. Jhn 15:4 ASV - Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.
Jhn 15:5 ASV - I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing.
Luk 3:16 ASV - John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire: Fire: Greek: pur
Fire of the holiness of God, which consumes all that is inconsistent therewith, Hbr 10:27; 12:29; cp. Rev 1:14; 2:18; 10:1; 15:2; 19:12; similarly of the holy angels as His ministers, Hbr 1:7; in Rev 3:18 it is symbolic of that which tries the faith of saints, producing what will glorify the Lord . In the old testament when the Israelite's went into battle and after the battle all the weapons of war would have to pass through the fire for a cleansing , they were cleansed with fire. And every thing that could not go through the fire was cleansed with water such as garments , clothing and leather etc. The type here is that we are baptized with his spirit and than we are cleansed with the fire of his spirit . And the water being the word of God we are washed by his word as we receive it and obey . Please remember we are still talking about the pure in heart shall see God , this is not speaking about the end of time . It is speaking about the moment you surrender to his cross . Jesus said in Luke 17:20-21 That the kingdom of God is in the hearts of men at that moment , salvation is an on going process , a life time of total surrender and obedience.
Luk 9:27 ASV - But I tell you of a truth, There are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
Jhn 14:3 ASV - And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Jhn 14:4 ASV - And whither I go, ye know the way.
Jhn 14:6 ASV - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me. It is about taking up our cross and walking with Jesus , he told us the way . The carnal man has to die the blood of Adam must be put to death and we must be born again , the fire is our cross it cleanses us and brings to our sacrifice that is the only way to walk in his kingdom. Jesus is speaking of his death on his cross , he was the seed that fell into the ground and died . And now he has brought about a body of believers a church triumphant and we are his seed his offspring . If we believe on his name he gives us the right to Become sons of God . This word Become is the key to our salvation , I am not speaking of works in the flesh I am speaking of holiness, of living a sanctified life before and unto God . Only by his spirit living in us can we Understand his will for our life's . When he he the spirit of truth has come
Mat 13:19 ASV - When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the evil one, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side.
Hearing the word of the kingdom Gods seed is planted sown in your heart . The word goes to our hearts , the mind the will and the emotion of our being our soul. But look closely at what happens when that precious word is not received with repentance . Listen repentance is the only way to hold this word deep in our hearts . There is another gospel being preach through out the world , there is only one gospel and that is the gospel Jesus preached to the beginning of the church . His fathers word to all man kind. 1Co 15:45 ASV - So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. We are living now in that flesh of Adam our carnal mind set , we are a living soul and Jesus has come to save our souls. Do you hear repentance in your place of worship , is holiness preached and separation unto God a commandant. There is onlyone way unto the father and his kingdom here on earth . Jhn 10:1 ASV - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. There is only one gospel and only one way , remember Jesus said he is the way the truth and the life the only door unto his father .
Jhn 10:2 ASV - But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
Jhn 10:3 ASV - To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. Porter: Greek: thuroros
"a door-keeper" (thura, "a door," ouros, "a guardian"), is translated "porter" in Mar 13:34; Jhn 10:3; it is used of a female in Jhn 18:16, 17, translated "(her) that kept the door." In the Sept., 2Sa 4:6; 2Ki 7:11; Eze 44:11. Could this be the new testament church the called out ones the saints of God , the ministers of the true gospel . The church triumphant with power and gifts , preaching the gospel with power
Mar 16:15-20 ASV - And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. Whole creation is until the end of this age , Jesus is in his church Mar 16:19 ASV - So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken unto them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
Mar 16:20 ASV - And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen. Mar 16:17 ASV - And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mat 13:19 ASV - When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the evil one, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side.
Greek: suniemi Understand, Understood:
primarily, "to bring or set together," is used metaphorically of "perceiving, understanding, uniting" (sun), so to speak, the perception with what is perceived, e.g., Mat 13:13-15, 19, 23, 51; 15:10; 16:12; 17:13, and similar passages in Mark and Luke; Act 7:25 (twice); Act 28:26, 27; in Rom 3:11, the present participle, with the article, is used as a noun, lit., "there is not the understanding (one)," in a moral and spiritual sense; Rom 15:21; 2Cr 10:12, RV, "are (without) understanding," AV, "are (not) wise;" Eph 5:17, RV, "understand."
Eph 3:16 ASV - that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
Eph 3:17 ASV - that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18 ASV - may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
The word Apprehend Greek: katalambano Apprehend:
properly signifies "to lay hold of;" then, "to lay hold of so as to possess as one's own, to appropriate." Hence it has the same twofold meaning as the Eng. "to apprehend;"
(a), "to seize upon, take possession of,"
(1) with a beneficial effect, as of "laying hold" of the righteousness which is of faith, Rom 9:30 (not there a matter of attainment, as in the Eng. versions, but of appropriation); of the obtaining of a prize, 1Cr 9:24 (RV, "attain"); of the Apostle's desire "to apprehend," or "lay hold of," that for which he was apprehended by Christ, Phl 3:12, 13;
(2) with a detrimental effect, e.g., of demon power, Mar 9:18; of human action in seizing upon a person, Jhn 8:3, 4; metaphorically, with the added idea of overtaking, of spiritual darkness in coming upon people, Jhn 12:35; of the Day of the Lord, in suddenly coming upon unbelievers as a thief, 1Th 5:4;
(b), "to lay hold of" with the mind, to understand, perceive, e.g., metaphorically, of darkness with regard to light, Jhn 1:5, though possibly here the sense is that of (a) as in Jhn 12:35; of mental perception, Act 4:13; 10:34; 25:25; Eph 3:18.
Eph 3:19 ASV - and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God.
One last thought
Luk 17:12 ASV - And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off:
Luk 17:13 ASV - and they lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
Luk 17:14 ASV - And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go and show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, as they went, they were cleansed.
Luk 17:15 ASV - And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, with a loud voice glorifying God;
Luk 17:16 ASV - and he fell upon his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
Luk 17:17 ASV - And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
Luk 17:18 ASV - Were there none found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger?
Luk 17:19 ASV - And he said unto him, Arise, and go thy way: thy faith hath made thee Whole.
This word Whole Greek: sozo Heal, Healing:
"to save," is translated by the verb "to heal" in the AV of Mar 5:23; Luk 8:36 (RV, "to make whole;" so AV frequently); the idea is that of saving from disease and its effects.
Thy faith hath made thee whole.
