Rev 2:7 Promise Of Paradise

                Christian !           seems to be espoused as a physical thing more than a heart thing by some people.     Jhn 14:15 ASV - If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.     Luk 6:46 ASV - And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?    The only way we as children of God can express his attributes is to manifest his fruit . And what is the fruit of Christ ,

  Gal 5:22 ASV - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 ASV - meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 ASV - And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.
Gal 5:25 ASV - If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk.
I believe we as children of God ,        and I want to say Jesus never said we should be good Christians ! this is a man made short cut to holiness .   This is what Jesus requires of his children Jhn 1:12 ASV - But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Jhn 1:13 ASV - who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God .
It is about becoming Gods children and Gods children manifest their fathers character his very life .  Act 4:12 ASV - And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.
 Act 4:13 ASV - Now when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.   Mat 10:1 ASV - And he called unto him his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of disease and all manner of sickness.    And this is the true gospel the twelve preached all through their ministry.        Mar 16:15 ASV - And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.    Whole    All:   Greek: pas
radically means "all." Used without the article it means "every," every kind or variety. So the RV marg. in Eph 2:21, "every building," and the text in Eph 3:15, "every family," and the RV marg. of Act 2:36, "every house;" or it may signify "the highest degree," the maximum of what is referred to, as, "with all boldness" Act 4:29. Before proper names of countries, cities and nations, and before collective terms, like "Israel," it signifies either "all" or "the whole," e.g., Mat 2:3; Act 2:36. Used with the article, it means the whole of one object. In the plural it signifies "the totality of the persons or things referred to." Used without a noun it virtually becomes a pronoun, meaning "everyone" or "anyone." In the plural with a noun it means "all." One form of the neuter plural (panta) signifies "wholly, together, in all ways, in all things," Act 20:35; 1Cr 9:25. The neuter plural without the article signifies "all things severally," e.g., Jhn 1:3; 1Cr 2:10; preceded by the article it denotes "all things," as constituting a whole, e.g., Rom 11:36; 1Cr 8:6; Eph 3:9.   No the gifts did not die as some false doctrines has said ,  Jesus gave gifts unto mankind for salvation's sake for the edification of his body for the perfection of his church to all that are called .     Now when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men .    Jhn 3:6 ASV - That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.   From the beginning unto the end of our holy walk is this life we can take no credit for our salvation or its effect on this world , it is Christ in you the hope of glory.   Save by grace a gift of Faith lest we should boast .
This is the reason Jesus chose these twelve men , they had no reason to boast they were men of no reputation.   Apostles special messengers that the power would be of God and not of themselves .

  Apostle, Apostleship:  Greek: apostolosis, lit., "one sent forth"

1Co 1:24 ASV - but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1Co 1:25 ASV - Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1Co 1:26 ASV - For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1Co 1:27 ASV - but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;
1Co 1:28 ASV - and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:
1Co 1:29 ASV - that no flesh should glory before God.
1Co 1:30 ASV - But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:

We must see that people that profess Christ in name only are walking in their own flesh .  There are today many people that are called Jesus,   they are named Jesus .  But the word says to believe IN HIS name .  Satan knows who belongs to Jesus and who walks in the power of that name .  Acts 19: 13-16   And the evil spirit answered and said unto them, Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are ye?   Jesus told the Jews that disputed his words if you were of your father Abraham then you would be doing the works of Abraham . And so it is the same with his children , if we are of Christ  (born into his name ) we will be doing the works of Jesus Christ.     Mar 16:17 ASV - And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 ASV - they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

  1Pe 4:14 ASV - If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.
1Pe 4:15 ASV - For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters:
1Pe 4:16 ASV - but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.
1Pe 4:17 ASV - For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1Pe 4:18 ASV - And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?
1Pe 4:19 ASV - Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.

Christian:   Greek: christianos
"Christian," a word formed after the Roman style, signifying an adherent of Jesus, was first applied to such by the Gentiles and is found in Act 11:26; 26:28; 1Pe 4:16.
Though the word rendered "were called" in Act 11:26 (see under CALL) might be used of a name adopted by oneself or given by others, the "Christians" do not seem to have adopted it for themselves in the times of the Apostles. In 1Pe 4:16, the Apostle is speaking from the point of view of the persecutor; cp. "as a thief," "as a murderer." Nor is it likely that the appellation was given by Jews. As applied by Gentiles there was no doubt an implication of scorn, as in Agrippa's statement in Act 26:28. Tacitus, writing near the end of the first century, says, "The vulgar call them Christians. The author or origin of this denomination, Christus, had, in the reign of Tiberius, been executed by the Procurator, Pontius Pilate" (Annals xv. 44). From the second century onward the term was accepted by believers as a title of honor.

1Pe 4:17 ASV - For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?

 Matt 24   is approaching this earth very soon and there will be no delay , at the appointed time Jesus will come to gather his saints his bride that believed in and obey the gospel of God.
Rev 14:14 ASV - And I saw, and behold, a white cloud; and on the cloud I saw one sitting like unto a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand sharp sickle.
Rev 14:15 ASV - And another angel came out from the temple, crying with a great voice to him that sat on the cloud, Send forth thy sickle, and reap: for the hour to reap is come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
Rev 14:16 ASV - And he that sat on the cloud cast his sickle upon the earth; and the earth was reaped.
Rev 14:17 ASV - Another angel came out from the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
Who is it that will keep you from the kingdom of God , The devil works through the flesh of men.  Jesus gave you the power over your flesh through his word Rom 6     he gave you a cross to bear and your cross is the power of his word to cut away this carnal nature .
Heb 4:12 ASV - For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.
  Mar 4:24 KJV - And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
Mar 4:25 KJV - For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
Mar 4:26 KJV - And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
Mar 4:27 KJV - And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
Mar 4:28 KJV - For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
Mar 4:29 KJV - But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Do not sell yourself''s short friends , the thief on the cross repented on his cross and was saved that moment and he went to paradise with Christ .    The only cross you have at this moment is spiritual and you now have the ability to ask the same question as the thief on the cross ask of Jesus.

Luk 23:40 ASV - But the other answered, and rebuking him said, Dost thou not even fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Luk 23:41 ASV - And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
Luk 23:42 ASV - And he said, Jesus, remember me when thou comest in thy kingdom.
Luk 23:43 ASV - And he said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To-day shalt thou be with me in Paradise.    The total sum of all things on this earth is Christ in you the hope of Glory , to live with Christ in paradise .

Pro 24:12 ASV - If thou sayest, Behold, we knew not this; Doth not he that weigheth the hearts consider it? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his work?

Colo 1:13 Delivered From The Power Of Darkness

Col 1:18 KJV - And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.   The greatest of all things in our lifes to thoses that believe is Christ death, burial and ressurection .   He was crucified for the sins of the world .   John 17:1   Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You .   even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life. "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.     Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us   Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Show us the Father?   Jesus is saying I am the father Philip he Jesus manifested his fathers glory in this world .

The father said in the very beginning Let us make man in OUR own Image and God made man in HIS own image ,  Image  Greek: eikon    of man as he was created as being a visible representation of God, 1Cr 11:7, a being corresponding to the original; the condition of man as a fallen creature has not entirely effaced the "image;" he is still suitable to bear responsibility, he still has Godlike qualities, such as love of goodness and beauty, none of which are found in a mere animal; in the Fall man ceased to be a perfect vehicle for the representation of God; God's grace in Christ will yet accomplish more than what Adam lost;
This body was for the Passover Lamb to deliver man from judgement of sin and death,    our souls being born of Adam there has to be one last sacrifice .  When we see the word Image here it consist of two Images one of flesh and one of Spirit .  Remember Jesus said I have come in my Fathers name

  Name:   Greek: onoma
     for all that a "name" implies, of authority, character, rank, majesty, power, excellence, etc., of everything that the "name" covers:  Jesus reveled his father through his power he said the works I do they are of the father the father in me he is doing the works. And we have the name of Jesus the same power as he had .  For God as in Christ reconciling the world unto himself        to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation .  Mark 16 these commandants of Christ is for today .
Satan does not want men and women walking in this power it comes through Grace .  And the word that Jesus spoke about a house divided against its self will not stand .  He told Peter that upon this rock I will build my church ,  that he is the son of God and that he has come to show the church who the father is.  1 Cor 11:27     Wherefore whosoever shall eat the bread or drink the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.  Man has made this a religious event and the people do not understand the commitment of this verse.  Your are what you eat ! if we partake of his word feed upon it make it our very life . As you have received the Lord Jesus so walk ye in Him. His blood is his very nature his life is in his blood .  Jesus said why do you  call me Lord Lord and do not what I say.

For he that eateth and drinketh, eateth and drinketh judgment unto himself, if he discern not the body. For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.  Apostate men have blinded the eyes of the hungry hearts the true saints ,   Discern in the Greek is to      Contend
 Jde 1:3 ASV - Beloved, while I was giving all diligence to write unto you of our common salvation, I was constrained to write unto you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints.      Contend (-ing):
signifies "to contend about a thing, as a combatant" (epi, "upon or about," intensive, agon, "a contest"), "to contend earnestly," Jud 1:3. The word "earnestly" is added to convey the intensive force of the preposition. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,     Heb 12:14 ASV - Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord
  Sanctification   Holiness, Holy, Holily:   Greek: hagiasmos
the resultant state, the conduct befitting those so separated, 1Th 4:3, 4, 7, and the four other places mentioned above. "Sanctification" is thus the state predetermined by God for believers, into which in grace He calls them, and in which they begin their Christian course and so pursue it. Hence they are called "saints" (hagioi).   This is the rock Jesus is building his church on ,     Mat 22:14 ASV - For many are called, but few chosen.   Called in the Greek we have been invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb Jesus .  And our life is to prepare for this marriage , and the preparation is to seek his righteousness and his holy life . Jesus told us to be holy as you father in heaven is holy this is the rock he told Peter he would build his church on the foundation of his gospel .  Luk 6:48 ASV - he is like a man building a house, who digged and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: because it had been well builded.
Luk 6:49 ASV - But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream brake, and straightway it fell in; and the ruin of that house was great.
If you Look closely the earth is failing it is coming to a close , the end of all things is at hand.  That flood is coming the stream breaking is quickly approaching  Matt 24 .      Your soul is that house and it must be built upon the truth of Gods gospel the only word that will save us.   Man says that you cannot be perfected in this gospel Jesus said you can .  Man is a liar and has not the truth in him , Jesus said he was the true Shepard every one that came before him was a thief and a liar .   1Co 15:44 ASV - it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
1Co 15:45 ASV - So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.   That which is of flesh is flesh and that which is of spirit is spirit
Jhn 14:3 ASV - And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Jhn 14:4 ASV - And whither I go, ye know the way.
Jhn 14:5 ASV - Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; how know we the way?
Jhn 14:6 ASV - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jhn 14:7 ASV - If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Call, Called, Calling:
Greek: kletos  "called, invited," is used,   (a) "of the call of the Gospel," Mat 20:16; 22:14, not there "an effectual call," as in the Epistles, Rom 1:1, 6, 7; 8:28; 1Cr 1:2, 24; Jud 1:1; Rev 17:14; in Rom 1:7; 1Cr 1:2 the meaning is "saints by calling;"
Rev 19:7 ASV - Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Rev 19:8 ASV - And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright and pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Col 2:9 ASV - for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily,
2Co 5:19 ASV - to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Jesus said a body you have prepared for me . I have come to do thy will oh God !      Heb 10:1 ASV - For the law having a shadow of the good things to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect them that draw nigh.
Heb 10:5 ASV - Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, But a body didst thou prepare for me;              Rom 8:13 ASV - for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 ASV - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.              Luk11:13 ASV - If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?   We have become a living soul just as Adam we are his offspring and we are under the judgements of his sin .

Rom 8:15 ASV - For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Rom 8:16 ASV - The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:
Jhn 1:12 ASV - But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Jhn 1:13 ASV - who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Col 1:15 ASV - who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;
Col 3:10 ASV - and have put on the new man, that is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Heb 1:3 ASV - who being the effulgence of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Jhn 17:5 ASV - And now, Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
GLORY   Glory, Glorious:   Greek: doxa
of the nature and acts of God in self-manifestation, i.e., what He essentially is and does, as exhibited in whatever way he reveals Himself in these respects, and particularly in the person of Christ, in whom essentially His "glory" has ever shone forth and ever will do, Jhn 17:5, 24; Hbr 1:3; it was exhibited in the character and acts of Christ in the days of His flesh, Jhn 1:14; Jhn 2:11; at Cana both His grace and His power were manifested, and these constituted His "glory;" so also in the resurrection of Lazarus, Jhn 11:4, 40; the "glory" of God was exhibited in the resurrection of Christ, Rom 6:4, and in His ascension and exaltation, 1Pe 1:21, likewise on the Mount of Transfiguration, 2Pe 1:17. In Rom 1:23 His "everlasting power and Divinity" are spoken of as His "glory," i.e., His attributes and power as revealed through creation; in Rom 3:23 the word denotes the manifested perfection of His character, especially His righteousness, of which all men fall short; in Col 1:11 "the might of His glory" signifies the might which is characteristic of His "glory;" in Eph 1:6, 12, 14, "the praise of the glory of His grace" and "the praise of His glory" signify the due acknowledgement of the exhibition of His attributes and ways; in Eph 1:17, "the Father of glory" describes Him as the source from whom all Divine splendor and perfection proceed in their manifestation, and to whom they belong;
(b) of the character and ways of God as exhibited through Christ to and through believers, 2Cr 3:18; 4:6;
(c) of the state of blessedness into which believers are to enter hereafter through being brought into the likeness of Christ, e.g., Rom 8:18, 21; Phl 3:21 (RV, "the body of His glory"); 1Pe 5:1, 10; Rev 21:11;
(d) brightness or splendor,
(1) supernatural, emanating from God (as in the Shekinah "glory," in the pillar of cloud and in the Holy of Holies, e.g., Exd 16:10; 25:22), Luk 2:9; Act 22:11; Rom 9:4; 2Cr 3:7; Jam 2:1; in Tts 2:13 it is used of Christ's return "the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ" (RV); cp. Phl 3:21, above;
 Eze 43:10 ASV - Thou, son of man, show the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern.       Bayith /  in hebrew is house or temple , and are we not the temple of the Holy Ghost .
Pattern in Hebrew  measurement, pattern, proportion ,   Jesus was the fathers perfect pattern of his righteousness his perfection was in his obedience to his fathers word .
         Jhn 4:32 ASV - But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not.
Jhn 4:33 ASV - The disciples therefore said one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?
Jhn 4:34 ASV - Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.
Col 1:19 KJV - For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
Col 1:20 KJV - And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Col 1:21 KJV - And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
Col 1:22 KJV - In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
Col 1:23 KJV - If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Col 1:24 KJV - Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his Body's sake, which is the church:

Body, Bodily:   Greek: soma
is "the body as a whole, the instrument of life," whether of man living, e.g., Mat 6:22, or dead, Mat 27:52; or in resurrection, 1Cr 15:44; or beasts, Hbr 13:11; of grain, 1Cr 15:37, 38; of the heavenly hosts, 1Cr 15:40. In Rev 18:13 it is translated "slaves." In its figurative uses the essential idea is preserved.
Sometimes the word stands, by synecdoche, for "the complete man," Mat 5:29; 6:22; Rom 12:1; Jam 3:6; Rev 18:13. Sometimes the person is identified with his or her "body," Act 9:37; 13:36, and this is so even of the Lord Jesus, Jhn 19:40 with 42. The "body" is not the man, for he himself can exist apart from his "body," 2Cr 12:2, 3. The "body" is an essential part of the man and therefore the redeemed are not perfected till the resurrection, Hbr 11:40; no man in his final state will be without his "body," Jhn 5:28, 29; Rev 20:13.
The word is also used for physical nature, as distinct from pneuma, "the spiritual nature," e.g., 1Cr 5:3, and from psuche, "the soul," e.g., 1Th 5:23. "Soma, 'body,' and pneuma, 'spirit,' may be separated; pneuma and psuche, 'soul,' can only be distinguished

 Luk 12:42 ASV - And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall set over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?
Luk 12:43 ASV - Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Luk 12:49 ASV - I came to cast fire upon the earth; and what do I desire, if it is already kindled?
Luk 12:50 ASV - But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
 Baptism, Baptist, Baptize:    Greek: baptisma
"baptism," consisting of the processes of immersion, submersion and emergence (from bapto, "to dip"), is used
(a) of John's "baptism,"  in water a type of a repentant mans spiritual burial
There are two baptism's here , one is unto repentance .  That being in  Rom 6
Rom 6:3 ASV - Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 ASV - We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 ASV - For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;
Rom 6:6 ASV - knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;

And the baptisim of Fire
of the overwhelming afflictions and judgments to which the Lord voluntarily submitted on the Cross, e.g., Luk 12:50;
(d) of the sufferings His followers would experience, not of a vicarious character, but in fellowship with the sufferings of their Master.

Luke 12: 49-51  Amp     I have come to cast fire (judgment) on the earth; and how I wish that it were already kindled! 50. I have a baptism [of great suffering] with which to be baptized, and how [greatly] I am distressed until it is accomplished! 51. Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division [between believers and unbelievers]
 John said the one that is coming after me is greater than I
Luk 3:16 ASV - John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:   Greek: pur Fire:
        of the holiness of God, which consumes all that is inconsistent therewith, Hbr 10:27; 12:29; cp. Rev 1:14; 2:18; 10:1; 15:2; 19:12; similarly of the holy angels as His ministers, Hbr 1:7; in Rev 3:18 it is symbolic of that which tries the faith of saints, producing what will glorify the Lord
