Luk 19:1 ASV - And he entered and was passing through Jericho.
Luk 19:2 ASV - And behold, a man called by name Zacchaeus; and he was a chief publican, and he was rich.
Luk 19:3 ASV - And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the crowd, because he was little of stature.
Luk 19:4 ASV - And he ran on before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
Luk 19:5 ASV - And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to-day I must abide at thy house.
Luk 19:6 ASV - And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
Luk 19:7 ASV - And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge with a man that is a sinner.
Luk 19:8 ASV - And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of any man, I restore fourfold.
Luk 19:9 ASV - And Jesus said unto him, To-day is salvation come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
Luk 19:10 ASV - For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.
Zacchaeus = "pure" or innocent , Is this the way Jesus see's you. He was innocent in the fact he was unaware of Gods love and mercy. You know Gods grace is what saves us all. As we read this beautiful story we see a man the Jews called a sinner. A heathen a non Jew according to their standard, unless you were born a Jew you were a sinner. A very elite way of judging, proud and arrogant to say the least. The word says we have no right to say who goes to heaven or to hell. Now every one not of the blood line of Abraham, and if you were not a Jew you were a sinner hopelessly lost for ever. But look at this word from the start God had his eye on Zacchaeus. It says he was a small person in stature. But I see more than just physical here there is also a spiritual side here. He was hinderd in his mind to the fact he was rejected and spoke evil of . The Jews hated Zacchaeus they called him a sinner , they told Jesus we have Abraham as our father. Jesus said Abraham rejoiced to see my day and he did. Gal 3:6 ASV - Even as Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.
Gal 3:7 ASV - Know therefore that they that are of faith, the same are sons of Abraham.
Gal 3:8 ASV - And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand unto Abraham, [saying,] In thee shall all the nations be blessed.
Gal 3:9 ASV - So then they that are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.
Now Zacchaeus it says was wanting to see Jesus he climbed a tree so when he passed by he would get a look at Jesus, it was more than a look he was after. Now God saw his heart and the next few verses tell of Gods mercy for those that seek him with an honest heart. The verse says when Jesus came to the place the exact spot, Jesus knew exactly where he was, you know the word says that no man can come unto God except the spirit draw him, he Jesus look up and said Zacchaeus come down I am coming to your house. And the word says Zacchaeus received him Joyfully he was happy and he came down and took Jesus to his home. and the real Jews of the old law looking on said look he has gone into a sinner mans house. The moment that Zacchaeus saw that Jesus had excepted him he began to repent to have a change of mind. He said to Jesus Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of any man, I restore fourfold. The word says Godly sorrow worketh repentance. Just being in the presents of Jesus with a willing heart brought change, he repented and Jesus said this of him To-day is salvation come to this house, his whole house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham. Faith reconciles us to God 2Cr 5:18 ASV - But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave unto us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Cr 5:19 ASV - to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation. To repent is to have a change of mind and the word says we should always live a life worthy of our repentance. Its a daily walk , Always being a reflection of Christ to whom ever we meet. Jesus said you are the light of the world, a city on a hill. So let your light shine. Jhn 3:19 ASV - And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
Jhn 12:46 ASV - I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness.
Luk 4:18 ASV - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luk 4:19 ASV - To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luk 4:20 ASV - And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Luk 4:21 ASV - And he began to say unto them, To-day hath this scripture been fulfilled in your ears. There are two things that happen there and to a man when he hears the word of God. It is a seed that is planted and it goes straight to your heart and then it is what a man does with that seed he either waters it and takes it deep into his heart. Or he lets his flesh have its way and our flesh is an enemy of Gods word so it gets rejected. But from the start that word is sent to create life in us . And if that seed grows and becomes a plant of stature it than makes more fruit of that same seed. Each seed has a body of its own the bible says. 1Cr 15:37 ASV - and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;
1Cr 15:38 ASV - but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.
1Cr 15:39 ASV - All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one [flesh] of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes.
1Cr 15:40 ASV - There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the [glory] of the terrestrial is another.
1Cr 15:41 ASV - There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.
1Cr 15:42 ASV - So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
1Cr 15:43 ASV - it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
1Cr 15:44 ASV - it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual [body].
1Cr 15:45 ASV - So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.
1Cr 15:50 ASV - Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
I love the word of God so I have the whole word to love, not one special verse, matter of fact they all tie in like a wonderful tapestry. Paul is saying here this word has the power to regenerate us spiritually, and in the end physically change us to a glorified being. Jesus after his death on the cross was changed physically. He told the people he was not yet glorified in his body, but then a short time after that he began to walk through walls and show himself to his disciples. Eating and drinking just as they. And he even told them to feel me touch me and see. Zacchaues and his household was changed that day by faith. He sought the Lord and found him. And the word says that those that seek for him shall find him. Even the man that found a pearl of great price, was looking when he found it,and that being Jesus. Even repentance is a gift of God 2Ti 2:24 ASV - And the Lord's servant must not strive, but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing,
2Ti 2:25 ASV - in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth, Its the heart, God wants your heart , your soul. Act 15:8 ASV - And God, who knoweth the heart, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us;
Rom 10:10 ASV - for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
;Hbr 4:12 ASV - For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart
2Ti 2:20 ASV - Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some unto honor, and some unto dishonor.
2Ti 2:21 ASV - If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, meet for the master's use, prepared unto every good work.
2Ti 2:22 ASV - after righteousness, faith, love, pace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. A VESSEL UNTO HONOR. The Lord saw Zacchaeus in his heart, and he also sees you and he wants to come to your house and bring salvation to your whole house. The word above said for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Confession of this great word and by faith believe.
