He Is More Than A Name

 Greek: onoma
for all that a "name" implies, of authority, character, rank, majesty, power, excellence, etc., of everything that the "name" covers:   Jesus said he came in his fathers name and when Jesus abides in you his name is more than just a name. When the word speaks the name of Jesus its the power of God set in motion ,the power to bind to loose to heal and deliver, pray that those signs will follow you when you speak the name of Jesus and that you know him !  Philippians 3:8-11

Act 19:2 ASV - and he said unto them, Did ye receive the Holy Spirit when ye believed? And they [said] unto him, Nay, we did not so much as hear whether the Holy Spirit was [given].
Act 19:3 ASV - And he said, Into what then were ye baptized? And they said, Into John's baptism.
Act 19:4 ASV - And Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him that should come after him, that is, on Jesus.  The word says   2Cr 7:10 ASV - For godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation, [a repentance] which bringeth no regret: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.  Regret of that I sinned having a sorrow for my sin but not enough to repent of and repent is to change ones mind. I am sorrowful but I do not want to stop right now and that sorrow is of the world and it will take you out !! it says it will work death in you. If God is revealing a sin in your life and he is shinning his light on you and your sin. How is it that we can refuse his grace . Grace must come before healing and blessing . So God in his gracious love is working towards your perfection.  of man, 2Cr 7:10, RV, "[repentance (metanoia, see C)] . . . which bringeth no regret" (AV, "not to be repented of"); the difference between metanoia and metamelomai, illustrated here, is briefly expressed in the contrast between "repentance" and "regret."
We are saved by grace the word says but it is a gift of Faith to believe even faith is from God, falling into the arms of Jesus and resting he is the refreshing . Yes his blood is our covering   Paul in his epistles talks about the mature man in us,   1Cr 13:11 ASV - When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things.  Mat 18:3 ASV - and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.   Faith as a child believing with no wavering in your heart if His word says it I believe it !!. No longer children tossed to and fro but having your feet planted firmly on the solid foundation of this word, Faith comes by hearing and HEARING by the word of God ,if you hear it than you must obey it. Jesus said if you love me than you will obey my words.  I want to say this also when we were children young in the Lord we acted as children , we make mistakes because we were unlearned in the word of righteousness.   There is a blood covering for babes but a time comes when God requires you to grow up become mature in his word and walk in your repentance   So God takes that covering for sin and pulls it back and exposes that sin in us. By the light of his word and revels to you its time to deal with this now ! Godly sorrow starts to work. He is actually exposing the root of sin in us to that great light of truth.  And you will not go any farther in the Lord until you put to death this sin by repentance. That is the meaning of worldly sorrow works death in us because we refuse to deal with our sin.    Hbr 5:14 ASV - But solid food is for full grown men, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.  When we hear this word and obey we began to grow in this Grace and it says where by reason of USE we have our senses trained to discern. And this truth is speaking of Holy Ghost discernment not our fleshly understanding.  When our old man is on our cross than the five senses we have used in the past is of no use in the spirit world. All things become spiritual , remember    Eph 6:12 ASV - For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places].
Act 19:6 ASV - And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.  1 cor 13 is speaking of the love of God for God so love the world that he gave his love to us in the person of Jesus Christ.   1Cor 13-10    but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. 1Cor 13-12  For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known.   Until we see him as he really is we will have these gifts operating in the body of Christ. God has not taken away these gifts he gave them for the perfection of the saints how will the church be perfected without the free gifts.   1Jo 3:2 ASV - Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.   Manifest   Greek: phaneroo
Appear, Appearing:

akin to No. 1, signifies, in the Active Voice, "to manifest;" in the Passive Voice, "to be manifested;" so, regularly, in the RV, instead of "to appear." See 2Cr 7:12; Col 3:4; Hbr 9:26; 1Pe 5:4; 1Jo 2:28; 3:2; Rev 3:18. To be manifested, in the Scriptural sense of the word, is more than to "appear." A person may "appear" in a false guise or without a disclosure of what he truly is; to be manifested is to be revealed in one's true character; this is especially the meaning of phaneroo, see, e.g., Jhn 3:21; 1Cr 4:5; 2Cr 5:10, 11; Eph 5:13.
Col 1:27 ASV - to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory:   We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him .  God is not coming back for the tree ( your flesh)
he is coming for the fruit the fruit of Christ in you .

Religion of the world, traditions of your fathers, make of no effect the word of God.
2 Tim 3-5    holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power therefore. From these also turn away.  And these signs will follow those who believe !    Just before the day Pentecost in the book of Acts the word says over five hundred people were there to experience the resurrection of Jesus they saw him and heard him speak.  He was on the earth after his resurrection for forty days.  And making known to them the fulness of his death ,burial and resurrection . The point I am making here is out of those five hundred people at that time  we can go to Acts 1 and 2 and we see that only one hundred and twenty were there to receive the promise of the Holy Ghost.    Luk 24:49 ASV - And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high.        Where are you today are you filled with this same spirit the power Jesus spoke of the promise of the father to all that believe.   Jhn 1:12 ASV - But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
The lie is that this all died with the apostles and the people in that day, the verse says when that which is perfect is come yes and that perfect one is Jesus when Jesus returns we will be like him and than we will live with him forever.
1Cr 13:10 ASV - but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away.
1Cr 13:11 ASV - When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things.
1Cr 13:12 ASV - For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known.  Paul is speaking of the fullness of time when Christ comes to reign in his fathers kingdom.   Mat 5:18 ASV - For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.  The Law here is speaking of the law of Grace the Law of Love the fulfilling of all things.  2Cr 5:18 ASV - But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave unto us the ministry of reconciliation;
Greek: katallasso
Reconcile, Reconciliation:

properly denotes "to change, exchange" (especially of money); hence, of persons, "to change from enmity to friendship, to reconcile." With regard to the relationship between God and man, the use of this and connected words shows that primarily "reconciliation" is what God accomplishes, exercising His grace towards sinful man on the ground of the death of Christ in propitiatory sacrifice under the judgment due to sin, 2Cr 5:19, where both the verb and the noun are used (cp. No. 2, in Col 1:21). By reason of this men in their sinful condition and alienation from God are invited to be "reconciled" to Him; that is to say, to change their attitude, and accept the provision God had made, whereby their sins can be remitted and they themselves be justified in His sight in Christ.

Mar 10:45 ASV - For the Son of man also came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Greek: lutron
That Christ gave up His life in expiatory sacrifice under God's judgment upon sin and thus provided a "ransom" whereby those who receive Him on this ground obtain deliverance from the penalty due to sin, is what Scripture teaches. What the Lord states in the two passages mentioned involves this essential character of His death. In these passages the preposition is anti, which has a vicarious significance, indicating that the "ransom" holds good for those who, accepting it as such, no longer remain in death since Christ suffered death in their stead. The change of preposition in 1Ti 2:6, where the word antilutron, a substitutionary "ransom," is used, is significant. There the preposition is huper, "on behalf of," and the statement is made that He "gave Himself a ransom for all," indicating that the "ransom" was provisionally universal, while being of a vicarious character. Thus the three passages consistently show that while the provision was universal, for Christ died for all men, yet it is actual for those only who accept God's conditions, and who are described in the Gospel statements as "the many." The giving of His life was the giving of His entire person, and while His death under Divine judgment was alone expiatory, it cannot be dissociated from the character of His life which, being sinless, gave virtue to His death and was a testimony to the fact that His death must be of a vicarious nature.  And vicarious  means  substituted he took our place he died physically we die spiritually to our carnal nature.

1) the price for redeeming, ransom
a) paid for slaves, captives
b) for the ransom of life
2) to liberate many from misery and the penalty of their sins

1Cr 13:13 ASV - But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
